We've been at sea for about a week and due to good weather we've made good progress. The Xs on the map indicate the survey stations (8 meter beam trawl and CTD downcast) we sampled, and the √ marks the JAMP station. On top of that, we carried out three hauls with a 2 meter beam trawl with small mesh to get insight in the smaller organisms at the sea floor.

At the survey stations, we fish with an 8 meter beam trawl with chains and a flip-up rope that prevents us from catching boulders. On Friday morning we were glad to have a flip-up rope as we hit and caught a boulder that made the chains break. The boulder got caught by the flip-up rope and fell out while hauling.

We sort the catch inside the vessel: fish is sorted per species, and the invertebrates end up in one or more baskets. We sort a representative subsample to the species.
