Voortgang na drie weken//Progress after three weeks

Na alle berichten over problemen tijdens het vissen lijkt het alsof gedurende de eerste drie weken van de BTS niets bereikt is. Niets is minder waar. Door de inspanningen van de bemanning en onderzoekers is het gelukt om op 88 locaties te vissen, waarvan in 9 gevallen de trek ongeldig verklaard moest worden. Dat was in een aantal gevallen omdat de netten en/of tuigen beschadigd (of kwijt) waren, maar ook door vangsten die niet aan boord  gehaald konden worden (bijv. te veel zeesterren in het net).

After the blogs about gear damage and issues, one may think that we haven't achieved anything. That is not entirely true. As a matter of fact, we conducted 88 hauls of which 9 were declared invalid, either because of net and/or gear damage, or because it was impossible to get the catch on board (e.g. too many starfish in the net).

Schol/Plaice

De kleinste schol was 6 cm. De grootste schol in de vangst was 57 cm. De piek in de lengteverdeling van schol was 23 cm.
The smallest plaice measured 6 cm, the largest 57. The median length was 23 cm.
