Omgevings informatie/Environmental information

Het hoofddoel van deze survey is om informatie te verzamelen over vis en andere dieren die gevangen worden in de boomkor. Het is echter van belang om ook te weten in welke omstandigheden de beesten leven. We meten de temperatuur en het zoutgehalte van het water door de hele waterkolom met behulp van een zogeheten CTD, die Conductivity (geleidbaarheid) en Temperatuur meet op bepaalde Dieptes. Voorafgaand aan iedere trek doen wij een meting met dit apparaat.

The main objective of the survey is to collect information on the catch content. It is however important to collect some information on the environment where the fish and other fauna lives. Every haul, we use a so-called CTD to measure conductivity and temperature throughout the water column.

We registreren ook de condities waarin we vissen, zoals windrichting en –kracht, en golfhoogte. We gebruiken verschillende bronnen voor de weersvoorspellingen en vertrouwen voor de waarnemingen vaak op de ervaren blik van de bemanning op de brug.

We also register information on wind direction and speed, and swell height and direction, to monitor the fishing conditions. We use a number of sources to see the weather forecasts, but for registration we often still depend on the eyes of the experienced crew.
